Dear John.
(I alway wanted so say that)

Each style of spinet warrants a different method. If you are removing
the type with droplifters with wooden buttons on top and elbows on the
other end detach the button from the key and slip several layers of
newpaper between the keys and the buttons. After you have done this to
all keys and have removed the screws lift the action out. To replace
action lay newpaper over the keys and place the action back in piano. It
doesn't work in all situations but most.

It you have an old style Baldwin Acrosonic (usually Cincinnati built)
remove 2 or 3 of the top damper blocks. Raise a pickup finger in each
section and place a damper block as far down on the metal pin of the
finger as possible and tighten the set screw on the damper block. This
helps keep the pickup guide rail from coming off which can lead to a lot
of social comment should it do so.

There are different tricks for every type. These just come to mind. Lord
if they would have just made the pianos taller. They are just to short
for me to work on.

Good luck
