Nothing against Baldwin, but I would recommend using Renner parts with Premium Blue Hammers. I have begun replacing actions in Baldwin Ls from the 1930s to 1950s vintage and have found them to be excellent. Contact Lloyd Meyer and tell him you want the hammers prehung by Peter Bourassa (sp?). He did a set for me once when I was in a time bind and I found it to be a very good job.Renner USA's phone # is:203-221-7500. Don't expect to talk to a person when you call, but they call back promptly. One thing to check carefully on the Baldwin Ls: check for cracked action rails. I have found one, and several with very loose screws. I replaced the cracked one with a new rail from Baldwin, and it worked out very well, cheap too, about $25.00. A few mounting holes had been moved, but no real problem to get it in place. Also check the action spread. On two of them I moved the wippen rail almost 1/8th of an inch!
