I supect we'll all have to get used to a lot more things like this. The other day I tuned a new well made upright with a knot visible in the wood right above middle C in the key upstop rail. I wouldn't be surprised if in a couple of years it becomes real popular to take an old upright, pull the case apart, and refit it around a new piano sold without a case. Best of both worlds.
