Hello all. Regarding the piano I wrote about in the "My first (rodent) story" thread; This piano is slated for a garage sale. They are trying to decide to sell it as it stands or have me work on it and perhaps get more money for it. It would help to know what it is worth. It is an upright, at least 100 years old. It says Kimball Chicago on the fallboard. I didn't measure but it is approximately 5' high. It has a strange finish. Something between stain and paint. Almost like a "whitewash" finish except it is red. The serial number was stamped in wood on the back. 11321. Anybody? It needs new key bushings all around - hammer shaping - lots of action work (mostly loose flanges and bending shanks, etc. Once that is done, it would be a decent unit. The ivories are intact and the bass sounds good even with the square hammers! The sound board has some typical looking splits but I've seen worse. The furniture is in very good shape. Thanks, Glenn.
