richard's descriptions of list moderation and a FAQ are right on. in my
opinion, this list isn't to the point where it requires a moderator (yet?).
but i definitely think a FAQ is appropriate. i am in the process of writing
one that i was planning on handing out during the "internet for piano
technicians" class in orlando. i was planning on adding it to the PTG web
site and posting it here as well. the point of a FAQ is to answer commonly-
asked questions, hopefully before someone reposts the question to the list.
so if anyone wants to send me input i'll make sure the FAQ covers it.
please email me privately (andy@rudoff.com) and i'll post the finished
product to this list.

a couple of other changes regarding this list and the ptg-l list are
in the works and i'll be making another announcement soon... stay tuned!

p.s. i'm on many mailing lists and have been for years. i'm always amazed
at how the same discussions and complaints arrise on every list. this
list is no different, except i consider the signal-to-noise ratio on
pianotech to be excellent. mosts posts are informative and well meant.
as a learning technician i can't tell you how much i appreciate the
information gleaned from this list. many thanks to all of you!
