Jon,
For individuals (and partners in a partnership), charitable
contributions, even though contributed from business assets, are a
personal item and must be claimed on Sch. A (yes, you have to itemize to
get the deduction), and cannot be claimed on Sch. C as a business
expense.

Also, don't forget that a piano could be considered a gift of
appreciated property under code subject to Code sections 170(a) and (e)
and Reg. 1.170A-4.

There's a guy in Waco who might be able to give you a VERY high
appraisal on the piano you donated so that you can really maximize your
deduction...
