Larry,
    Now, the there may be some minor design differences, but I believe LaRoy
Edwards designed the tune you describe.  He is also responsible for the
action cradle so many of us have used over the years, and some other handy
tools we're all familiar with.  Perhaps John's version was a modification of
LaRoy's.
