removing the plate

Dick;

        The trick is to get the plate back in the piano after the
refinishing without damaging the the cabinet.  If you have some kind of
hoist, it is quite easy to do it by yourself.  Go to a floorcovering store
and get some lino remnants that are 2 or 3 inches higher than the sides of
the cabinet.  Line the inside of the cabinet with the strips of lino
including the stringer.  Lower the plate into the piano and as soon as the
plate contacts the lino which is above the sides of the cabinet, it will be
guided down by the lino.
