Horace, SNIP >The few 9'+" I have seen _might_ work for Brahms - >given the right kind of hall, The only thing I know (so far) about the hall is that is in a high school. >senstive accompaniment from the orchestra, etc. The orchestra is a "volunteer" type orchestra. A Civic Symphony. Not bad, but certainly no comparison to the Houston Symphony. And if I understood correctly, the pianist will not even have a complete run-through on the piano used for the concert. The rehearsal will be on a vertical in a rehearsal hall. I'm surprised the teachers involved allowed this to happen since a concerto performance is a requirement for his DMA in Piano Performance. >On the other hand, it just might sound pretty darn nasty... That's sort of what I was afraid of. And what I certainly don't want to happen. The teacher wants me to do the tuning for the concert. Of course, I could always go to the store and go over it prior to delivery, but because of the situation, I'd probably be doing it for the sake of the pianist and the teacher. Not my pocketbook. :-) >I suppose, if they can get it for free...just hope they >don't expect it to sound like a good NY D. If they >do, no one will have any fun, at all. Well, at the worst, it will still be a LOT better than a much smaller Kawai they have there at the high school. Probably beat up, too. I'm still hoping they'll opt for renting one of the C & A 'D's'. >Horace Thanks for the responses.
