Mike,
	You can go ahead and mute this if you wish but I rather think
you might be better off trying to tune it!  The duplex scaling does
make a difference in tone and is there as an added feature.  First
check with the manufacturer to see that these are not a duplex bar
that has locator pins going into the plate.  These you cannot move
and it could be bad to try.  Hope this helps.
