George; The pianos in question were manufactured for the domestic market in Japan and are known for some reason as "Gray Market Pianos". If you take a piano from a climate like Japans which varies wildly for top to bottom, but is Humid, and ship said piano to the desert you will have problems but.............if a S&S lives it's life in Florida for the first twenty years and then you ship it to the desert you will have problems with that also. Buying one of these instruments can be a good economic move and save some big bucks. With the bucks you save you can use just a small amount to install a complete DC system and you should not have any problems. Sure there are horror stories about these pianos but having dealt with the things for going on ten years now I can say that there are no more problems with them than with any other used instruments of like age from any manufacturer.
