<< Keeping the lift controlled is something that I am looking for help with, so as to minimize scarring the rim, particularly on re-entry! >> To prevent the scarring of the rim, find a gutter supply service that uses the long, continuous roll of aluminum stock. They will sell you scrap for cheap. Cut as many pieces as you need to go around the inside of the rim, and glue inexpensive felt to one side. Place these around the rim before you begin moving the plate. You can even cut and fold the tops so that they hold themselves in place. Good luck, Ed Foote
