<< A customer's piano reeked of a musty odor when I opened it for a tuning.
She was aware of the odor and asked what she could do to remove it. Would
cleaning the case parts with X-14 remove the odor? Any suggestions from
 the Pianotech world?

Something inside the piano is creating that odor. Try to find the source of
the odor, and eliminate it, and the odor will go away. If it is dust, then
clean all the parts that are dusty. To blow out the action, use an air
compressor. If you don't have one, go to a garage, or car dealer, and ask to
use theirs
