<monitor near the pianists ear and crank up the volume.

This the only answer as far as Im concerned, unless you can rescale at
lower tension, and even that may not do it. All the regulation and voicing
to reduce power does exactly that, causing the pianist to hit harder. A
good monitor system will do it every time, if not.... replace the
pianist......
