Dear ListMates: Since my original post on You Thought You've Heard Everything, I've been to the customer's home and have tried as I might to service that piano while keeping a sharp eye on a *reasonable* budget. (I would much rather see this family buy a better piano than to sink a lot of money into this junker.) I also "serviced the customer" and I think they will be buying a better piano within the next few months. What prompted the post was the customer's emphasis on appearances -- somehow wondering why spend money on something that looks so similar to something the family already has. They knew what they were doing, or so she tells me, they wanted the cheapest new piano to see if the kids will be interested. They definitely are. They've also taken up other instruments in addition to piano so they could play in the school band. The problem now is to get this family past the *problems* of appearances and on to thinking about the musical potential of a better instrument, something they can afford. Z!
