"Forgive and forget" will likely prevail, I imagine. It leaves me disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I welcome your post and the minor healing power it holds for some of the abused and confused list readers. What disappoints me most is the expectation, by you, that you will be believed. Not that you won't, of course. But when you're able to write-off your responsibility for your actions, to yourself, then I fear the damage that you'll commit upon yourself, and innocent readers. Some of whom will not be familiar with your .... features. I guess your subject title will satisfy the discontinuities associated with the following: From: Billbrpt@AOL.COM Received: from Billbrpt@aol.com (3699) by imo29.mx.aol.com (IMOv20) id 4ZJAa05854 for <Pianotech@ptg.org>; Thu, 3 Jun 1999 00:36:32 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <cebdc68c.2487604f@aol.com> Date: Thu, 3 Jun 1999 00:36:31 EDT Subject: Apology To: Pianotech@ptg.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 13 Sender: owner-pianotech@ptg.org Precedence: bulk Reply-To: pianotech@ptg.org X-UIDL: dbf1bdeecd496ac92033ae57f14237bc To all those on the List who took offense at my candid remarks, I apologize for the inappropriateness of the post and acknowledge that if anything, it should have been on PTG-L. Sometimes, the words we casually fling about can be taken very seriously and have very long term consequences. I wish as much as anyone does that the Pianotech List remain a free and open discussion about Piano Technology, not personal differences. I have unsubscribed and will be away from my computer until next Tuesday. I would very much prefer to participate in Pianotech writing scholarly and to-the-point posts about piano tuning and other aspects of piano technology, not about personal traits and personal opinions. Our profession is by nature empirical. To prevent others from getting the most out of it by politics, social pressure and intimidation is tantamount to restraint of trade. There must be room for the discussion and implementation of new ideas and techniques. Sincerely, Bill Bremmer RPT Madison, Wisconsin The above post, signed only "Sincerely", not "Sincerest", fell between the "Control for Power" and "Big Lie" posts. The first paragraph of the above post acknowledges the "proper venue" suggestion that I had made, but your private reply to me contradicted that sentiment entirely. Thanks but no thanks, Bill. I don't want, need, or deserve your apology. MY ONLY TWO CONCERNS ARE: READERS OF THIS LIST PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE COMMENTS AND OPINIONS OF THE WRITERS TO THIS LIST DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THE OPINIONS OF ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE LIST OR THE PIANO TECHNICIANS' GUILD. READERS OF THIS LIST PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ACCUSATIONS, LIES, AND RACISM MAY APPEAR IN THE POSTS FROM CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE LIST, IN THE GUISE OF FREE SPEECH. Long live free speech.
