Terry: I didn't realize we were talking about an upright. I can think of 3 approaches that have worked here: 1. Ream with 4/0 bit. If you can rig a drill press setup, it's better than doing it by hand. In any case, keep the reamer cooled down however you can. 2. Plug the block. If you buy a really good plug cutter from Trendlines or Garret Wade, it's not that onerous of a task to make your own. If you don't want to pull the plate, drill right through it & use pin bushings. 3. Fill block with Epo-tek 301 from Epoxy Technologies and redrill. Dries extremely hard & drills much like a hard wood-you tend to get curls & chips of material instead of powder as with most epoxies. I have done this & gone in with 3/0 pins with good results. It's about $35/qt. but is cheaper than plugs if cost is a factor. Hope this helps. WKC
