I'd tell the store first.  One would think that a store who wants to stay in
business will replace an inferior instrument.  You didn't say if this is a new
or used piano.  Used pianos can pose more difficulties when they're bad.
Always a judgement call on whether to tell that particular customer of the
(un) quality of their purchase.
