Perhaps there's a technique?>> Brian; Yeah there is at least one :-) When using the becket breaker you are trying to 'break the becket' not drive the coil through the plate like a nail. All it takes is to angle the becket breaker so the the lip is touching the becket, and with a small, 8 oz., hammer 'tap' the becket breaker lightly/moderately. The string will break and then you can remove the pins, without scratching the plate, before the strings are removed. I back off the pins 1/4 to 1/2 turn before breaking beckets. Jim Bryant (FL)
