In doing this, the bottom of the coil will be pretty close to the plate.">> Jim; In those discussions an "assumption" of tight pins was made, the subject was on restringing, i.e., new pin-new wire, and the 'ideal' locations of coil, plate, pin, and becket. Of course if the pin is not tight enough to hold......... you take care of the pin tightness first and then expend worry about 'coil height' etc. :-) "Tapping" pins is 'one' way of addressing pin tightness. The CA methods are effective, in most cases, and allow you to address both goals at once, although the jury is still out on the long term efficacy of CA use, judging by some opinions. Jim Bryant (FL)
