Tadashi was made by the Atlas Piano Company of Hamamatsu, Japan. No serial
numbers are given for Tadashi in the Pierce Piano Atlas, but Atlas is
listed (1980: 131301, 1985: 5051645, 1988: 8020505). 1988 is the last date
listed. My recollection of the Tadashis that I saw was that they "looked
like" what we might consider "gray market pianos". That doesn't mean they
weren't "official" imports, but rather that their marketers didn't pick up
on details that US piano techs think make a good piano for the US market
(from sturdy kickboards to wood that we *know* is seasoned for North
America).
