About two years ago I wrote an article for the Journal that described a way to replace front mortises with new hard wood ones. I did two sets this way and was very pleased with the results. Relpaceing the key buttons can also be done easily. The bottoms of the keys can be rebuilt using a precision tool set sold by Ralph Onesti. Leave the capstans as they are and get the wippen built for them. Newton
