vertical dampers

Hi Brenda,

I have not experienced damping problems with the UST-7 which is not to
say that it cannot happen.

Check the status of the middle pedal as was suggested.

Check it's pitch. If it is a non pitch sound it could be dampers or
it could be undamped open waste end strings at the bass bridge or
other sections of the scale.

If it is a high pitched sound it may be coming from the undamped
treble strings.

Place your hands on bass strings and other areas you might think it is
coming from to see if it goes away or if it changes.

Move the piano so it points in a different direction and observe the
results.

Check the condition of the dampers, their alignment to the strings and
pluck suspect strings to check their muting.

Don't change the dampers unless you are certain that is the source of
the sound.
