Hi, In light of the recent discussion of bridle tape function, I thought I'd describe a point about a working action model that was lent to me yesterday, which is based on the 1840's Pleyel upright in the Boston MFA. Both this action and Robert Wornum's original lack hammer springs; however, the Pleyel has felt squares glued to the jacks which _kick_ the bridle tapes upon escapement. In proper regulation this may have been all that was necessary to ensure repetition in these light actions, in whipping the hammer into check to spring the back check wire.
