I had a new set of strings from Mapes in which a few had discolored. They apologized, explaining that apparently a worker had mishandled them in the making, and offered to replace the whole set. Too late, they were already on the piano. None of the strings are dead, however, all sound great. They then provided a way of removing the discoloration which, while not perfect, did suffice. They then gave me my next set of strings, free. They aim to please, the folks at Mapes. Roger Hayden
