Richard, Chick Corea just played the Vancouver Washington wine and jazz festival. I tuned for that gig. He did not have a "Yamaha" tech follow him here in America so I don't know why they told you that. He asked me how the piano was when he arrived. I told him that I had 20 minutes to touch it up with monitors a blaring at 1pm and 25 minutes of silence (yeah right... trumpets warming up, drummers banging and the like) The temp dropped 20 degrees on this outdoor event and I told him it was fine...smirk. He has a reputation for calling a tech onstage to touch up the piano during the concert. I stayed for four hours and luckily I did not have to go onstage to touch up in front of 7000 people. Ed Tomlinson Vancouver, Wa Btw.. Tonite Chick Corea is in town. He is playing on a brand new Yamaha 9 footer.. CFIII I believe it is. Sponsered by Yamaha. Technician on the job employed direct by Japan and following the tour. He's been to the Yamaha schools in Japan, having lived there for about a year. Very nice fellow and extremely competent tech. Of course Yamaha is making a big deal out of it all. Profileing themselves. They were even kind enough to call and "apologise" for sending along their own tech explaining that he was following the whole tour. I am the regular tech for the Jazz club and festival here and I was suprised to get such a call. Nice touch if you ask me. I told them I understood completely. Fits in nicely with my own thoughts about techs, pianos, and owners. In any case Yamahas behavior was far from arrogant. You S&S folks out there listening ?? Richard Brekne I.C.P.T.G. N.P.T.F.
