Before doing anything drastic make a handled tool that looks like a
fish tail or a nail pulled.  This tool is to help bend strings at the
bridge pin and to push the pin down upon the bridge for a more snug
fit around the pin and the bridge.  If you can eliminate false beats
this way is cheap and fast.

I modified the other end of my string hook.  I just pull off the
handle.

If I string does not improve by twisting the wire one way try
reversing the direction of the bend.

Remember you are doing delicate and precision work and it has to be
done with finesse.
