Bridal Straps Married

Is anyone using the (green) split bushing cloth bridle straps? A couple
years ago, we had a long run of very inconsistent corked tapes and it seemed
more effective to switch rather than meticulously sort out the short and
long ones, the narrow and wide ones...

The cloth straps have their own problems, particularly the slits tend to be
cut off center and sometimes break. Also, the technique of threading them
through the catcher takes some practice but it's not advisable not to thread
them through.

I make a hook out of some convenient wire (mostly steel harpsichord wire),
put all of the straps over the catchers starting in the bass and with the
hook in my left hand this time from the treble pull them through just enough
to grab and finish with my right hand (trip the jacks with my left hand,
hook the tape with my right..).

I still like the idea of tapeless actions.
