The 3 Concert grands in the halls(2 X Yamaha CF's and 9ft Bossy) we have a padded water proof tarps that fit flush to the floor when not in use. The office staff have to fill the Damp Chasers twice a week. It has made a BIG difference to stability and got rid of the clicky clack problems. Key bedding on the Yamaha's is done at every tuning, it only takes acouple of mins. Most of the Prof's studios have Yamaha C3's and G2's all with damp chasers, augmented with portable floor humidifiers. They fetch their own water, or get a cooperative student to look after, I'm sure for an extra 5% marks.<g> > > Anyways I still would like to know if key bedding these grands is going have >to > be done over again after the humidity comes up again. I'd hate to have to >put in > all that work for nothing. I did the Yamaha today, and had to spend about 5 >hours > regulating and tuning it. Absolutely everything was affected by the drop in > humidity. The Yamaha's you can cheat a little, the rail is so flexible that with practice you can spring the balance rail a little with the glide bolts and restore after touch, and key height. the saw kerks in the front rail, along with the cheek block hardware being tight generally prevents front rail knock. Suprising how inter active regulation becomes with humidity changes. Shameless advertising for a NEW Arlington class to be giver by that stellar Belle from the South, Ms Gina Carter and your's truely. Watch the Journal for new series that will cover some short cuts!!!!!!!!! Now we have to be a little cryptic.
