Newt, the Canadian supplier features the 40-watt Weller [soldering iron] with a brass hammer iron made to fit the small diameter shank that agrees with the iron. The 40-watt Weller from Pianotek (for key bushings) does not offer the hammer iron attachment. Conversely, Schaff has two offerings: Hammer Smoothing Iron (#95, pg 41); and 5-In-1 Electric Iron Kit (#99, pg 66) that has additional tips along -with- the brass hammer iron attachment. Either of these are 80-watt units. The 5-In-1 is a better dollar value of the to, too, two (had to fit that in somewhere) due to the additional tips. Either unit is generally overpriced -- the 80-watt Weller is available for $18US as a "soldering iron", and that's at the most expensive place in my town. So, with either Schaff unit, one is essentially paying a lot extra for the brass hammer smoothing head. The 40-watt unit is sufficient, although it requires a moment to recover between "nukes" when wetted per Roger's method. The 80-watt doesn't require the recovery time, but -does- require a wattage control (rheostat) lest one nuke either hammers or some of the aluminum attachments. All this is fresh on my mind at the moment, since I ended up having -both- units. More than you wanted to know, right?
