I've seen too many corks without glue coming out
and flopping around. Shrinkage? misfit?... I don't know
but I prefer to be safe with a "dab" of yellow glue.

Be careful, too much may create noisy 'bits and clicks'.
With the stap on insert tool, dampen the lower edge of the
cork just enough to be some aid , no need to cementing them in.
Wipe off excess before inserting cork.
I find this creates a more secure joint, without causing
problems later, and takes very little time.

A safe way I have used to make sure those buggers are going to stay put is to
put a very small dab of 50-50 liquid hide glue and water (in a plastic
applicator bottle) on each side of the cork. This way they will not fall out
but when time to replace again (years if the straps have suede tips-they are
much softer and will not harden up like fabrilite) you can steam them out
with ease.
