Dale and list

Is there a book/resource for hide glue applications and techniques? I hear
techs talking about some repairs they use it for, but have not been able to
find some one or some source that starts with the mixing the various
consistancies, and apply it properly to affect reliable glue joints. I've
tried it on some jobs like hammer hanging, felting the plate, damper
installation, but I'm never quite sure if its going to last. I have a tough
time controlling the "hot liquid" stage to the "warm gell" stage and have
had no luck using it for plate felt or nameboard felting, or any other large
applications. In short, how do you control the stuff?
