As was implied implicitly by Brand X in their advertisements and notices to techs and stores when their "no parts" policy was applied to these thingees. However a question remains in my mind as to what the status is of the multiple tens of thousands of instruments that were sold in this country prior to the reformulation of moisture percentage content in shipments here? These were 'exactly' the same parts, 'exactly' the same pianos(save for the third pedal) and there are many, many, multiple thousands out there in consumer land which are, and have been, performing just fine thank you.............. Now, seemingly, because of marketing considerations as well as 'some' justified concern over possible humidity soaked instruments all these thingees are deigned not suitable for this market...well what about the ones built to the same "domestic" specs that 'are' here? Or are they <<"not just pianos">> also? If they are in "fact" not suitable for this market why haven't they been recalled and replaced with suitable instruments? So it seems to me that there is a good deal of convienient "fiction" mixed with a few convienient "facts". <<" You implied that I said they are made with cheaper wood, glue and materials.">> I absolutely did 'not' imply anything of the sort. Read what I wrote and not what you read. The only 'passing reference' to you was in my paraphrasing your comment of <<" Are they junk? NO not at all">> by wording it "no they are not!"...which by the way came AFTER the cheaper materials comment. <<" Not fiction ... proven facts.">> See the first paragraph for the interface of some "fiction" and some "fact". BTW it is LaRoy, not LeRoy isn't it? :-) <<"I did not even imply half of what you wrote about me.">> And I Ed, did not "imply" a 'single' thing about you. I did however write of my thoughts, observations and experience concerning these "grey market" instruments. If you must be upset.....stop and think about the implications of this thread. Not counting my barely adequate experience........ there are four contributors to this thread with four 'different' opinions and sets of "facts" as well as their version of "fiction". Well they ALL can't be right can they? Or could they ALL be right according to their location and circumstance? Or possibly they are ALL wrong? In the final analysis Ed it comes down to exactly what Tony said, i.e.; <<"Analyse the situation and then give the right advise.">> and the "right advice" ain't always as simple as it should be considering the four different views expressed by the four very experienced contributors to this thread...is it? The sad thing about this continuing saga is that some are being prejudiced against something that they have no experience with and are being given conflicting "facts" and "fictions"...more's the pity.
