That is correct but that poor fool will live forever in infamy because of
that day.  I see the word spelled both ways almost daily and no mention is
ever made of it.  It's not fair to poor Danny boy...

On the other hand, he was the author of some really stupid quotes so I
don't feel so bad making fun of him.  I have a list of funny Quayle quotes
here somewhere but I can't find them.  The ones I remember are:

(paraphrased by memory)

"It's great to be here in the great state of Chicago"

"I recently returned from a trip to Latin America and I wish I had paid
more attention in my college Latin classes so I could have conversed with
those people"

Actually, I find that to be a pretty good comparison.
