Ron,

Conrad cynically said:
That, plus an ad to be placed directly beside or below saying that Mr
Lindquist is in the north woods area all year long to provide FULL service
for your piano whenever it needs it. ...or... when it needs it most...

 >>>>>BUT...<<<<<
After the pique subsides:

Take a look at your appointment book.

- Is it full?
If it is, this fellow isn't doing you any harm.

- Did you have any tunings last fall/winter (i.e. after the heat came on)
where the customer said "another fellow tuned this, but it just didn't hold"
         He may be helping you.

Have you pulled any cards he may have left in the past?

Can you afford to lose any customers? I didn't think so. A counter-ad would
probably just backfire.
- Customers might wonder how secure you are with your reputation.
Word-of-mouth is still the best advertising.
- The other fellow would probably badmouth you.

>:-) Just do 'your' business well and
>let the chips fall where they may.
>Jim Bryant (FL)

Sound advice.

Remember, you can pronounce the names of the towns correctly and without an
accent.
;-}
