Many thanks for all of the advice on what to do to help a piano withstand the effects of a beating from the sun ... what I am still curious about is what people have observed about pianos that had already been subjected to a solar beating without the benefits of protective insulation. My initial concern was over a couple of pianos that had already been out in the sun all day and had gotten quite hot to the touch. I'm particularly interested in observations that are in addition to the alterations of the tunings. For example, were there problems of glue joint failure? Of wood shrinkage to the point of permanent deformity? Of ____________(fill in the blank)? Z! At night I would definitely use the blankets though. Best of luck.
