I used to tune about 30 of these pianos for a school district just north of
here. I never did like the "feel" of the tuning pins. They always felt like they
were in some kind of gummy rubberish stuff. Smooth to turn true enough... but
squishy to set..

Perhaps one should try petrified wood ?? :)
