Popsickle sticks work fine - they're around the right width, thin, birch
and cheap. All that remains is to cut them to length, easily which can
be done at an appropriate angle with a back saw in Spurlock's miter box.

I've glued acrylic felt below the hinge felt to prevent neighboring
wires clacking, otherwise I like make sure the labels all are oriented
the same.
