The pads will leave swirl. I use a coarse compound on its own wheel followed by a fine compound and then followed up with "Diamond Glaze" (similiar to 3M rubbing compound available in auto paint supply) used on the same wheel. I do use a wheel rake between the compound and the glaze. Then hand buffing with a fine cloth. I would concur with those that advise not to learn polyester repairs on a clients piano!
