 Hello ric.

Sorry to be late with this post. The reason that
I needed to know if this was a Grand or an upright was
that the Schiller grands were designed by Julius Bauer.
The uprights were Schillers design.
George F. Jones was the driving force at the Schiller
factory as well as owning it. They did indeed use some
metal "clips" as an experiment on a few pianos. It was
much like the "clips" used by Schumann on some of
their bridges. The difference is that Schumann used the
"clips" on all the bridges. I have found no benefit in this
method also no down side in performance. After looking
at it I think it's cost would be less than pins and would
eliminate much if not all of the problems with splitting bridges.
The ' X ' frame was pat. in June of 1903. It was made first
of wood then medal with some fancy designs built into it.
George Jones also owned a foundry. I have never seen any
up or down side to it. But I am sure the sales department
presented it as a major improvment.
 Hope this helps,

Regards,
jack Wyatt
