When you measure crown on an old piano with strings on it etc., are you
saying that you lay a straight edge across the rim (I would assume at a
number of locations) and measure down to the board several times along
straight edge to measure crown? If so, would it not be a bit more
accurate/easier to stretch a string across the board bottom? I've never
tried it the other way. I seems like measuring a crown of 1/8" or less could
be real hard to do accurately. If indeed you do it that way, I'll have to
try it out! Please lemmmme know.
