In the past, I worked for a dealer in Washington DC that regularly sold "Grey Market", "American", and "European" pianos. I have also lived for three years in Okinawa Japan...where I tuned and serviced many "Japanese", "American", and "European" pianos. Bottom line, quality pianos that are not maintained well will not perform well. If a piano is old and abused, then it will perform like an old and abused piano. Regardless where it was made. Quality pianos that are maintained are quality pianos (Dampp-Chaser systems often times help). Yamaha manufacturers quality pianos, regardless where they are made. -Garret Garret Traylor Associate Member PTG High Point Piano P.O.
