Hi Terry, The rule for refinishing and cleaning is; always start with the mildest fix first. For many new pianos, when the strings just start to corrode, a piece of thick felt, like the hammer skivings left over from hammer making, rubbed along the strings works just beautifully. It leaves virtually no mess to clean up after and causes the least amount of abrasion to the strings. If that doesn't work, then you can work up to more abrasive cleaners, step by step until you find the best one for your strings. Other's suggestions have been good. Did you get to NAMM? Did you like it? What did you learn that was new?
