Is it possible that somebody is using MS Internet Explorer/Outlook Express
and, under the >>Tools  >>Options  >>Receipts menu, they have the "Request a
Read Receipt for all sent messages" box checked?  And then, there is a
problem with this senders return address?

There, now you know considerably more than I know about the subject.
