mysterious sticking flanges

Hi,
I have noticed that on some Yamaha Grands, of that
vintage.
I had to repin the offending flanges. I did notice a
blackness
at the pin, and assumed that it was a plating from the
pin that
had deteriorated.
After the repining, I have not had any reoffend.
