Kallie;
 We need to use our tools (extension hammer) as efficiently as possible. A
reason to use the 'extension' feature is to maintain ease of tuning without
unneedfully straining your arm and shoulder joints/muscles/ligaments on TIGHT
pins. Will it change the "feel" of the hammer? ..yes but so do the TIGHT
pins. Will it slow down the tuning?....yes, possibly, but so do the TIGHT
pins.

 The trade off is whether to accept a 'changed' feel for an altered technique
which will spare your hands/arms undue strain..or whether to tough it out
because REAL tuners don't use their hammers' "extension" feature.

 So the 'feel' is different from what we are used to...so what?.... does the
S&S grand 'feel' the same as the wurlitzer spinet we just
tuned?................... No Kallie my thought is to use your hammer in the
most efficient manner and if that means extending the handle than by all
means extend it and get used to the different feel(s) while saving your body
parts.. :-)
My view.
