Gee Phil, why don't you ask a complicated question.

What I use depends upon the situation.

If a goodly part of a set of grand hammers are loose I am mostly likely
going to put a little thin CA on the end of the shank after putting a
little accelerator on the inside of the shanks to help prevent dripping
through.

If it is an upright I will do the same thing except I will turn the
action upside-down so I can get the CA in easier and safer.

Do cover things so you don't get glue where you don't want it,
especially CA.

If there are a few loose ones, or some really flopping around loose ones
I will extract them and reglue them with Titebond.

Gluing on new sets of hammer I use Titebond. I have tried hot glue but
I prefer titebond except when setting my samples. It is so easy to get
one hammers set perfectly, in and out, left and right, angled ust so but
getting it glued on at exactly that one position is difficult so I put a
little CA on the joint and it becomes one solid joint without moving the
setup. I set all my samples that was and glue the rest on with
Titebond.

I do have other glues that I use but action work I use hot hide,
Titebond and CA. If it will need to be taken apart later I use hide hot
glue only. Easy to make, easy to use and easy to take apart.

Titebond also comes apart with heat but it takes more time.
