Verdigris fix

Hi Jim,
The only reasoning I can offer about the lanolin & verdigris is that the
chemist friend at the duPont company in Wilmington, DE that we talked with
told us that lanolin was acetic in nature & would react with the brass
CenterPin b ecause of the copper sulfate in the brass. All of the cloth we
have taken off of the brass Flange Rails over the years has had verdigris on
it also. We wish that there would be more time to experiment with problems
like this, but we have to make a "living". A few times in the history of PTG
it has been tried to establish & pay someone to conduct
research, but none of these projects continued.
As for having a different opinion than mine Jim, that is perfectly O.K., as
that is one
way we can learn, as long as we don't personalize the issue.
Best regards, Will Snyder
