Let off

I'm assuming that if the piano has a practice muffler, you should set the
let-off a little bit greater than 1/16" so that it lets off ok when the
muffler is engaged?

Why would Yamaha recommend a tapered let-off?  Can you really feel a
difference as to whether it is tapered or not?
