Extending grand tails

Back in Aug 2001, Allen Wright wrote an article on extending hammer tails.  I 
now need to do this.  I have a couple of questions if anyone has done this 
procedure or if Allen is on the list.

1) What type of glue did you use?

2) How did you clamp the parts together?
